Have you ever wondered how all the equipment in Westphalia operates like it is designed to operate, how the building stays clean inside and outside, how the vans always start and are full of fuel? What about the legal obligations of maintenance and supply contracts, legal documents for the purchase and sale of land and buildings, and the responsibility of church security. Guess who opens and closes the church every time a church member makes a request for this service. All these services are provided to the congregation by the loyal and faithful servants of the Westphalia Board of Trustees. The official responsibility of the Trustee Board is to have the supervision, oversight, and care of all property and equipment owned by the local church.
The Trustee Board is made up of nine men and women who serve at least a three year term. They meet on a monthly basis to discuss their duties that are set forth by the United Methodist Book of Discipline, section 2524. As all the Trustees are dedicated and faithful servants, Mr. Dexter Herbert stands out as he has volunteered to service as Trustee Board Chairperson for a large number of years.
As the church moves forward in God's Vision for a new Westphalia, the Trustees are reviewing and revising our present policies and procedures, as well as implementing new strategies to assist in raising Westphalia UMC to a higher level in God's Kingdom. Please be advised that these new policies and procedures will be presented to the congregation soon and will require the understanding and cooperation of all church members.
Should you require assistance or have ideas and suggestions that will aid the Trustees in serving Westphalia, please do not hesitate in contacting one of the Bard members. The current members are: Dexter Herbert, Larry Collick, James Smith, Yvette Parker, Patrick Munson, Crystal Pinkney, David Reese, Mark Taylor, and William Wilkins.
It is the desire and duty of the Trustee Board to serve the Pastor and all members of Westphalia in a way that is pleasing to God.
