In the year 1967, the congregations of the “Jackson – St. Luke Charge” merged under the name of “Jackson-St. Luke Methodist Church.”

After the merger took place, it was decided that worship services would be held at the St. Luke Church, while preparations were being made to erect a new church, under the pastorate of Rev. John H. Coursey.

After many preparations and negotiations, the “Ground Breaking” for the new church was accomplished on February 4, 1968. The next decision to be made was a name for the church. The pastor and congregation agreed that the new church would be called the “Westphalia United Methodist Church.”

Today, under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Timothy West, another “Ground Breaking” for a new church took place on April 20, 2008. We recognize and celebrate the families and individuals who formed the foundation of what has grown into a midsize church of over 500 members.
